The Basics
The Gunjee Gunge Tank is actually an historic item, being the original one used by Noel Edmonds on the BBC for his Saturday Roadshow and House Party. Our operators have lots of experience in attracting volunteers, and with the help of the DJ it can also be used for games or challenges! As well as the gunge tank we also offer clean-off facilities for the competitors/volunteers (either the dunktank or a portable shower), and can contain 99% of the mess in our working area, so your cleaners won't have to worry! So...why pick us over other Gunge tank operators?
- We don't do just one or two gungings...we do as many as time allows! We'll refill the Gunge Tank as quickly as we can to allow as many people as possible who want a go to have a go!
- We're there to have a good night as much as your crowd are. Yes we have to consider health and safety and the fact that we're *technically* at work, but if we're not having a good time and enjoying our work, how will your guests?
- We don't do hundreds of events a year - this means we're fresh and raring to go for each one, ready to make your event as special and spectacular as we all want it to be
- We've got loads of experience making and using gunge, as well as getting volunteers, as you can see in Gunjee TV or on our TV effects page here.

Key Information
- The classic Noel Edmonds Gunge Tank - sturdy, imposing, reliable and effective!
- Up to 240 litres of gunge for a normal event - generally we can reuse this if the Gunge Tank is really popular and has loads of people wanting to go in it
- We can suggest games and challenges to get the event started (we've seen both good and bad so can advise accordingly!) and then we open it up to volunteers for the rest of the night
- We clean up all our mess to leave hardly any residue
- You get the dunktank as well to wash people off (please see the DunkTank
listing for more details)
- Full £5million Public Liabilities Insurance
- Comprehensive Risk Asessment procedures in place
- For repeat/regular clients, venue and date specific trailer videos are available for use on Facebook and other websites (see here for an example!)

Detailed Information
As you can imagine the Gunge Tank works best with student-based fun-loving crowds. It's also best on a stage or raised area, preferably at the focal point of the room. An important thing to consider before we go any further is that it's 3.6m tall, so have a quick check of your ceilings! We also need quite a lot of space as you'll probably want to be teaming the Gunge Tank with our Dunk Tank, which sits in a groundhseet approximately 4m x 3m, whilst the Gunge Tank will normally be positioned to one side of this, in an area approximately 1.5m x 1.5m.
Please don't be put off by these space requirements though, some of our favourite venues are the small ones where we have to squeeze ourselves in! Email us a photo or two and we'll tell you if we think it'll work! All the flooring in and around our area is covered with rubber-matting (as gunge is very slippery on flat surfaces).
After we've carried the tank(s) in and set them up, we'll set the dunktank filling. Venues have tried to shower participants off in their VIP rooms at previous events, but the dunktank is quicker, more visual and much more effective! See the
DunkTank listing for more details. As it's filling we'll pre-mix our gunge. Although we can provide COSHH data to venues and local authorities, we don't publish the exact recipe as it's top secret - we believe it's the best gunge mix in the world (and have been told that by
TV effects people with 10+ years in their business!). Once everything's full and we're ready to go all the hoses disappear and we wait for your venue to fill up! People will normally be quite interested in what it is and what it does, and we'll answer questions until there's a bit of a crowd in the venue, liase with the DJ to make a 'show' of the first couple of gungings, grab our first volunteer and away we go! Depending on your crowd we can play a game or offer a prize (or both) to start the show, but mostly once we've got going people will volunteer themselves for the rest of the night.
Since we light our area to video it, everyone in the venue can clearly see what's going on, and it's great fun to watch! For Health & Safety we will obviously not allow anyone who is drunk or aggressive into the tank, and although people often ask if they can strip off completely, we don't allow this as it would generally break the terms of your venue's license. We'll also bring some towels - normally we have enough, sometimes not, but (to be honest) it doesn't seem to bother a lot of dunkees either way! The gunge comes off pretty easily with water and, in general, will not stain anything (clothing, furniture, etc) or anyone...
Finally we get to the end of the night. Using a powerfull submersible pump and large diameter hose we'll drain the dunktank, vacuum up all the gunge and excess water and (on a good night) be out of your venue, leaving it clean and dry, within 60-90 minutes.

5.
Gunjee Media Policy
Please have a read - you can see it by clicking the link below. The fact we video at most of our events has two major benefits to you as a
venue/promoter:
- We can generate trailer videos for use on websites/facebook groups and suitable for screens in your venue (on nights leading up to our
event) which promote the specific event on the specific night - see here for an
example! This is free for repeat clients - there is a small fee for new venues the first time.
- You'll get response and feedback from our interactive events (the Dunk Tank, Gunge Tank, Hot Tub, etc) when the event goes live in Gunjee TV and we then announce it on your Facebook wall, through our twitter
account (@Gunjee_dot_com) and on our Youtube page

Timings (before and after you're open)
We normally require around 90 minutes before opening to set-up a the Gunge Tank and Dunk Tank, and more if there are steps or the location is a long way from our entrance. Please let us know
in advance what time we can get into the venue, what time we need to be set-up by, and whether there are stairs (up
or down - this can add considerable time to the set-up!). Most important though is how we can gain access when we get there (doorbells,
phone numbers, etc) - we can't begin to count the number of nightclubs we've been stood outside trying to attract the attention of someone
inside!
At the end of the night we aim to pack down, clear up and be out of your way as quickly as possible. It will be between 60-90 minutes to drain, remove, clean and vacuum everything...if you want to be out quickly yourselves, why not lend us a couple of staff for 30 minutes?
7. Space and other requirements
The Gunge Tank requires an area approximately 1.5m x 1.5m, but it needs a height clearance of 3.6m. We will require a 13amp power supply before and after, and to get the best lighting effect we'll need it during the event as well. If you're getting the dunktank as well (which we pretty much 100% require for this event), this requires a flat level floor approximately
4m x 3m (see the DunkTank listing for more details). These two areas need to be next to each other.
To fill the Dunk Tank we'll require one or more water-sources (at least two generally) and we'll bring an array
of attachments to suit the connections available in most venues. However we definitely do need water and so you can expect us to rummage
around in your bar/wash areas and indeed cupboards and staff-areas to find the most suitable supplies.
We have
£5million FULL Public Liabilities Insurance and can provide all our paperwork in advance, including general risk assessments
for our equipment, specific risk assessments for our equipment in your venue, COSHH data sheets and disclaimer notices. All our equipment is
regularly mantained, including short tests in situ before each event. Our staff are fully trained in all aspects of Health and Safety to make
sure us, you and your guests are as safe as possible during installation, during operation and during removal of our equipment. We constantly
monitor safety during our events and will not allow anything that could cause accident or injury to our staff, your staff or your guests. Our
operators have up to
10 years of experience, with Health and Safety being the most important part of their training. As such we have an
impeccable safety record, and we have no hesitation pausing or stopping events if the need arises. For all our
interactive events we
brief all volunteers in advance on the rules, as well as having trained staff to maintain control at all times.
The one thing we
do require is that there is a member of club security staff at (or very near to) our location(s) at all times throughout the night.
We do advise you to floorwalk your venue in advance to identify areas near us that will become slippery when wet and/or gungey - it can splash a few metres away from our area if people get 'over-enthusiastic'. We can provide advice in advance or protection on the night, but it's best if we know beforehand.
8. Let us help you promote the event!
We're not promoters but we are good with video and we have had flyers for our events produced in the past (there's an example flyer for a
slightly different event at the
bottom of this page). If you'd like to use it, or any media from our site to promote your party, just ask us about licensing our media! But you i) have to ask first and have to ii) agree to the
site terms & conditions and the
Gunjee Media Policy
