The PERFECT event for your venue in summer 2012!
1.
The Basics
Yes, it is what you think - a 12 ft, thigh-deep swimming pool (technically a splash pool) inside a nighclub. But we're got a lot of experience and equipment 'behind-the-scenes' to make sure it's safe to install and operate. A custom-made groundsheet (up to 25ft square) surrounds the pool ensuring practically
no water leaves our 'wet-zone', so there's hardly any mess (see
Detailed Information below for more info) Also:
- We've done loads of Pool Parties at venues all over the country - due to our specialist equipment we've never even come close to flooding anywhere!
- We're aware that a successful pool party will give a massive boost to your venue, so (if our time allows) we'll visit in advance to make sure we can safely set up and run the event with no problems
- Our interactive events are filmed to sell back to the participants via Gunjee TV. This means
you'll get loads of good feedback about your venue and your night via social media!
Also there are some important differences between our Pool Party events and people who have recently started to copy us (bear in mind we started ours in 2004!).
- We have a custom-built waterproof groundsheet to contain approximately 1000 litres of water (at an 'average' event) that splashes out of the pool or drips off the participants. We saw one event where they used a tarpaulin.....tarpaulins are not waterproof. We know where our 1000 litres of water ends up and we can pump it away at the end of the night! Where did theirs leak to?
- We've been doing these events for 8 years, have seen most things and can react quickly to any scenario. Experience is a massive benefit for something as complex as a pool inside a nightclub.
- We deliver what we promise. Claims of a "40ft swimming pool inside a nightclub" recently (Spring 2012) turned out to be a 12ft (possibly 15ft) splash pool just like ours. Size isn't everything, especially if you're 25ft short of what you're claiming!
2.
Key Information
- 12ft Splash/Swimming Pool set up inside a protective groundsheet inside your venue. The minimum space requirement is 18ft square, as well as a relatively high ceiling and nothing delicate (projectors, lights) too close above the location
- Holds around 9000-13000 litres of water (depending on depth) and so weighs around 9-13 tonnes (700kg to 1000kg per square metre)
- Staff are trained and experienced to control up to 20 people inside the pool at any time
- We clean up all our mess (and any water that does escape our area) quickly and efficiently, meaning your venue stays nearly completely dry!
- Full £5million Public Liabilities Insurance
- Comprehensive Risk Asessment procedures in place
- For repeat/regular clients, venue and date specific trailer videos are available for use on Facebook and other websites (see here for an example!)

Detailed Information
We'll describe the set-up from the ground up. First we lay down our custom-made groundsheet (100% watertight, approx 25ft square with inflatable edges to
hold anything that spills out of the pool itself). On a normal night there will be around 2cm of water caught in this, which is approx 1000 litres...hence you can see why people without this protection who try to host their own parties more often than not flood their venue! This is lined internally with rubber-matting, and matting is also used to protect any
slippery areas immediately outside this too.
Then we build the Pool inside this. It's metal framed and very secure but does take ages to fill! We'll use 4 or 5 hoses (depending on your water supplies) but it will still take over 4 hours! We'll bring an
array of attachments to suit the connections available in most venues and you can expect us to rummage around in your bar/wash areas and indeed
cupboards and staff-areas to find the most suitable supplies close to our location. We also treat the water to help prevent any contamination.
Once it's set up and ready to go all the hoses disappear. We'll wait until the venue has started to fill up before we open the pool, and for safety we don't normally make a big show of opening it - we prefer people not to be 'too excited' as they get in.
Since we light the area to video it, everyone in the venue can clearly see what's going on, and it's great fun to watch! For Health & Safety we
will obviously not allow anyone who is drunk or aggressive into the pool, and although people often ask if they can strip off completely, we don't
allow this as it would generally break the terms of your venue's license. We'll also bring some towels - sometimes we have enough, sometimes not,
but (to be honest) it doesn't seem to bother a lot of them either way!
Finally we get to the end of the night. Using two powerfull submersible pumps and large diameter hoses we'll drain the pool and the outside liner, vacuum up any excess
water and (on a good night) be out of your venue, leaving it clean and dry, within 90 minutes (and nearly always within two hours - those pumps shift the water really quickly!!!)

Gunjee Media Policy
Please have a read - you can see it by clicking the link below. The fact we video at most of our events has two major benefits to you as a
venue/promoter:
- We can generate trailer videos for use on websites/facebook groups and suitable for screens in your venue (on nights leading up to our
event) which promote the specific event on the specific night - see here for an
example! This is free for repeat clients - there is a small fee for new venues the first time.
- You'll get response and feedback from our interactive events (the Dunk Tank, Gunge Tank, Pool, etc) when the event goes live in Gunjee TV and we then announce it on your Facebook wall, through our twitter
account (@Gunjee_dot_com) and on our Youtube page
6.
Timings (before and after you're open)
We normally require around 4-5 hours before opening to set-up and fill the pool. Please
let us know
in advance what time we can get into the venue, what time we need to be set-up by, and whether there are stairs (up
or down - this can add considerable time to the set-up!). Most important though is how we can gain access when we get there (doorbells,
phone numbers, etc) - we can't begin to count the number of nightclubs we've been stood outside trying to attract the attention of someone
inside!
Using our powerful pumps at the end of the night (assuming we're pumping flat or downhill) the pool will generally be emptied in around an hour, with another hour to pack it down, empty the groundsheet and take that out too. At worst it normally takes three hours.
7.
Space and other requirements
The Groundsheet requires and area at least 20ft x 20ft that is flat and level. The pool requires no electrical power during operation, but we will need to light it for safe operation - this is best done using club lighting (as long as your lighting jock can arrange it and
guarantee it will be on all night). Alternatively we can use our own floodlights, but these are quite bright and harsh, so it can make the venue too bright! There is also a height requirement of 4m, to allow people to safely climb on and climb out.
To fill the Pool we'll require four or more water-sources and we'll bring an array
of attachments to suit the connections available in most venues. However we definitely do need water and so you can expect us to rummage
around in your bar/wash areas and indeed cupboards and staff-areas to find the most suitable supplies.
We have
£5million FULL Public Liabilities Insurance and can provide all our paperwork in advance, including general risk assessments
for our equipment, specific risk assessments for our equipment in your venue, COSHH data sheets and disclaimer notices. All our equipment is
regularly mantained, including short tests in situ before each event (in this case it's only the ladder we really need to test, but that's a very important component). Our staff are fully trained in all aspects of Health and Safety to make
sure us, you and your guests are as safe as possible during installation, during operation and during removal of our equipment. We constantly
monitor safety during our events and will not allow anything that could cause accident or injury to our staff, your staff or your guests. Our
operators have up to
10 years of experience doing these events, with Health and Safety being the most important part of their training. As such we have an
impeccable safety record, and we have no hesitation pausing or stopping events if the need arises. For all our
interactive events like the
Pool we
brief all volunteers in advance on the rules, as well as having trained staff to maintain control at all times.
The one thing we
do require is that there is a member of club security staff at (or very near to) our location(s) at all times throughout the night. For something as risk-heavy as the Pool this is non-negotiable, even if there are security alerts in other areas of the venue at any time. This member of security staff should only be allowed to leave the pool area when there are no people in the pool.
8. Let us help you promote the event!
We're not promoters but we are good with video and we have had flyers for our events produced in the past (there's an example flyer at
the bottom of this page). If you'd like to use it, or any media from our site to
promote your party, just ask us about licensing our media! But you i) have to ask first and have to ii) agree to the
site terms & conditions and
the
Gunjee Media Policy
